igloo’s Kym Shaen-Carter wins national community engagement award
igloo’s Kym Shaen-Carter has won the Community Engagement Award at the British Property Federation’s (BPF) Tomorrow’s Leaders Awards. The award recognises outstanding individuals in the UK’s real estate industry who have been instrumental in delivering projects that engage closely with their local communities.
Kym was selected by a judging panel from a shortlist of three. The Community Engagement Award was presented at the BPF President’s Lunch earlier this week, along with awards for collaboration, inclusivity, innovation and for a “rising star.”
Kym commented: “The recognition for the project and our approach is a real boost, not only for me but for the team and community I work with. Developing homes in this way provides a real opportunity for local people to take control and help alleviate the housing crisis in their area. I must thank our community partners, the local authority, and the team for their support in making this project possible.”
Peter Connolly, chief executive at igloo, said: “Kym’s passionate, steadfast approach to community development is outstanding. We have seen the complex projects Kym leads go from strength to strength so we’re delighted Kym has been recognised by the BPF. We hope that Community Engagement becomes an even more desirable career for others entering the development industry now and in the future.”
This was the second year of the Tomorrow’s Leaders Awards, which were established to find and celebrate the rising stars of the UK real estate industry. The BPF noted the high standard of this year’s entries across the board.
Kym joined the igloo team in 2013 and is a Development Manager, headng up igloo Community Builders, a unit within igloo that provides community groups across the UK with development management advice to facilitate locally-led regeneration.
