Ha’way the iglooists – Standing proud for Sunderland City of Culture 2021
A recent igloo team meeting saw everyone at igloo travel from all over the UK to Sunderland, home of Siglion, igloo’s joint venture partnership in Sunderland, set to transform the city over the next 10 years.
As part of the day’s agenda, which included company updates, walking & cycling tours, and presentations by Deputy Leader Cllr Henry Trueman and Keith Merrin, CEO of the National Glass Centre, igloo took part in a ‘Twitter bomb’ which saw stakeholders, partners and communities in the city stand and share content online for the Sunderland 2021 City of Culture bid.
igloo has supported the bid in many ways over recent months via partnership roles with Sunderland Culture and has participated in events and collaborations across the city.
David Roberts, director at igloo and board member of Sunderland Culture, explained: “The Sunderland City of Culture Bid 2021 is another example of Sunderland stepping forward into a vibrant future. I’ve always loved the creative heritage here in the North and believe that Sunderland has a rich variety of cultural offers to showcase and uncover. If we’re successful, 2021 will be the perfect opportunity for the city to capitalise on the profit it will bring.”
