Prime Minister and industry leaders meet to discuss housing in the UK

igloo CEO Peter Connolly recently joined fellow housing leaders and the Prime Minister Theresa May at 10 Downing Street to discuss the various actions required to create a step change for UK housing development to meet Government targets for the delivery of new homes.

The conversation covered a range of topics including modern construction methods, supporting and developing a skilled workforce, and the planning process.

Naturally the session turned to the £10m Help to Buy scheme and making homes affordable for families and first-time buyers, the underlying message being we need move at pace together to make homes that work for everyone and broaden the market to make living in a new home an option to many more customers.

Peter Connolly commented: “Having the opportunity to express views with fellow CEO’s and influencers in the sector alongside policy leaders  was insightful. Collaborative approaches on larger sites and taking new creative scaleable housing concepts forward, such as custom build, are key aims for igloo and we welcome the impetus from government to explore and enable new ways of working”.
