Trent Basin represents an early and crucial phase of this major waterside renaissance project and a catalyst for change.
The Trent Basin site has long waterside frontage both to the River Trent and an inland harbour that in its heyday was a busy inland port. The site is close to Colwick Park, has highly attractive views over the Trent to Lady Bay and yet is no more than 10 minutes by bike from the City Centre. The site’s waterside character will be reflected by tall canal-style houses and the regeneration of a concrete basin formerly used for unloading cargo by Trent barges.
Trent Basin offers a mix of contemporary, high quality, low energy homes. Some 500 houses and apartments are proposed across the whole development, predominantly three and four-bedroomed and apartments, priced from £225,000 up to £395,000.
The architect at Trent Basin is Nottingham firm Marsh Grochowski, which has previously worked with Blueprint on low-energy housing schemes at Green Street and Hobart & Pitcairn in The Meadows. For Trent Basin, Marsh Grochowski has also worked closely with Manchester-based URBED, which has provided masterplanning for the entire Nottingham Waterside area.
The Blueprint vision forsees a new kind of sustainable neighbourhood. There will be tall elegant houses fronting well designed streets with a distinct identity and a strong sense of place. Open views over water and green spaces will reinforce the sense of being somewhere special. Located within 1.5 miles of the City Centre and even closer to the station accessibility to work, shopping and transport are significant attributes.
Blueprint has worked up a comprehensive master plan for the overall scheme and is now on site, building the first 45 homes at Trent Basin with further phases of development coming forward shortly.
