James Adams

James is our Head of Construction, leading projects from the ground up and making sure everything we deliver is commercially sound, deliverable, and true to our People, Place and Planet ethos. 

A chartered construction manager, project manager and sustainability specialist, hebrings almost 25 years’ experience across the construction, civil engineering, heritage, commercial and residential sectors. He’s worked on a range of complex and high-profile projects, including The Shard, BBC Broadcasting House, Park Crescent West, and a National Trust estate renovation programme.  

At igloo, James has led construction on completed, award-winning developments including Ironworks Leeds and the community-led Joseph Lancaster scheme and is now playing a key role in upcoming projects such as Founders Place and Central Winchester Regeneration, as well as across the wider portfolio. 

He’s passionate about building strong relationships and collaborative teams, with a focus on safety, cost and sustainability. A graduate of the UKGBC Future Leaders Programme, he’s especially interested in driving more collaborative ways of working across the industry. 

Outside of work, you’ll usually find him outdoors - sailing, trekking, running, or getting involved in nature conservation. He also enjoys a bit of carpentry.
