Chief Executive

John Long is Chief Executive of igloo, having taken up the role in July 2026 after nearly two decades with the business. He joined igloo in 2006 and has played a central role in shaping its strategy, culture, brand and growth as a nationally recognised leader in sustainable regeneration.

A chartered surveyor with more than 20 years' experience, John has led and contributed to some of the UK's most innovative mixed-use regeneration and housing projects. Throughout his career, he has championed development that delivers long-term social, environmental and commercial value, helping establish igloo's reputation for creating places that people love and the planet needs.

Prior to becoming chief executive, John served as executive director with responsibility for commercial development, culture, brand, new business and key client relationships. He has led partnerships with organisations including Nationwide Building Society and The Crown Estate, while supporting igloo's evolution into a leading impact-led investor-developer.

Known for his collaborative and people-centred leadership style, John is passionate about purpose-driven business, strong organisational culture and the role of regeneration in addressing the housing, social and environmental challenges facing the UK. His vision is built around collaboration, partnership, continuity and positive change, supporting teams to deliver exceptional places while remaining true to igloo's founding values.

Outside work, John co-founded the UK Green Film Festival and continues to serve as a charity trustee. He is also active in community initiatives in his home city of Bath, including establishing a volunteer land-management group where he proudly serves as "Chief Goatherd".
