The Meadows

Nottingham

The Meadows is an established Community across a mix of pre-1919 homes and 1970s Radburn social housing estates, committed to a long-term, resident-led regeneration scheme that aims to change perceptions of living in the area.

As part of this scheme, Nottingham City Council and Blueprint worked with the locals to provide a mix of eco, custom-build, tenure-blind, social housing, as well as the conversion of an existing Community asset.

The area’s 1930s Art Deco Mundella building has been brought back into use through its sympathetic conversion into 10 large apartments. Meanwhile, the new development, Trent Works, takes its inspiration from the area’s Victorian design and today’s sustainability standards to create 24 eco homes.

Both developments have become a catalyst for investment, influencing others to develop in the area.

A homage to history

The Mundella apartments retain many original features of the building, including decorative floor details and leaded decorative glasswork - and the most unusual and distinctive feature of the building - a cloistered internal courtyard.

Meeting modern needs

While taking influence from Victorian design principles, we also considered modern specification, incorporating excellent thermal performance and facilities for electric cars.
